Garth Underwood

Garth Leon Underwood (16. juuli 1919 Isleworth, Middlesex, Suurbritannia – 15. oktoober 2002) oli Briti herpetoloog.
Haridus ja tööelu muuda
- 1935–1938 õppis ta Adams Grammar Schoolis Newportis Shropshire'is[1];
- 1938 alustas ta ülikooliõpinguid, mis aga katkesid, kui algas teine maailmasõda ja ta värvati Royal Engineersi (Briti armee) ridadesse;
- 1940 viibis ta sõjaväelasena HMT Lancastria pardal, kui see Saint-Nazaires (Prantsusmaal) operatsiooni Ariel ajal uppus – Underwood hüppas laevalt merre ja ta päästeti;
- 1943–1946 täitis ta sõjaväelasena tööülesandeid Indias;
- hiljem jätkas ta ülikooliõpinguid University College Londonis (tol ajal University College, London) – ülikooli lõpetas ta aastal 1948;
- alates 1948 töötas ta Lääne-India Ülikoolis (University College on the West Indies, hilisem nimetus University of the West Indiens).[2]
