Rupert Sheldrake

Alfred Rupert Sheldrake (sündinud 28. juunil 1942 Newark-on-Trentis) on parapsühholoog ja raamatute autor. Ta on tuntud morfilise resonantsi teooria väljaarendamise tõttu.

Aastatel 1967–1973 töötas ta Cambridge'i Ülikooli Clare College'is arengubioloogia alal. Seejärel töötas ta aastatel 1974–1985 taimefüsioloogina Indias rahvusvahelises troopiliste taimede saagikuse uurimise instituudis. Aastatel 2005–2010 juhtis ta Perrott-Warricki projekti, mida haldab Cambridge'i Ülikool.

Morfilise resonantsi teooria hüpoteesi kohaselt omavad looduslikud süsteemid, nagu termiidikolooniad, orhideed, tuvid, insuliinimolekulid kollektiivset mälu kõikide samasse liiki kuuluvate isenditega. Sheldrake'i teooria puudutab ka ettenägemise ja telepaatia küsimusi.

Teaduskogukond on morfilise resonantsi teooriat laialdaselt kritiseerinud, nimetanud seda pseudoteaduseks ja osutanud veenva tõestusmaterjali puudumisele.
