Ott Roots

Ott Roots (sündinud 9. mail 1946 Tallinnas) on eesti keemik.[1]

Elulugu muuda

Lõpetas 1964 Tallinna 2. Keskkooli ja 1969 Tallinna Polütehnilise Instituudi keemia tehnoloogina; keemiakandidaat (1983, Eesti Teaduste Akadeemia), väitekirjas käsitles polükloreeritud bifenüülide ja kloororgaaniliste pestitsiidide levikut Läänemeres.

1969–1971 Nõukogude Armee, Leningradi oblast, Tihvin – leitnant.

Oli 1971–74 Zooloogia ja Botaanika Instituudi nooremteadur, Eesti NSV TA Termofüüsika ja Elektrofüüsika Instituudi Läänemere osakonna nooremteadur 1974–84, 1984–90 Rakendusgeofüüsika Instituudi Läänemere osakonna juhtivteadur, 1990–92 Tallinna Tehnikaülikooli Veekaitse Labori juhtivteadur, 1992–94 Eksperimentaalse ja Kliinilise Meditsiini Instituudi keskkonna kantserogeenide osakonna vanemteadur, 1993–2000 Keskkonnaministeeriumi Info- ja Tehnokeskuse seire nõunik, 2000–02 Keskkonnaministeeriumi Keskkonnakorralduse ja -tehnoloogia nõunik, 2002–05 OÜ Eesti Keskkonnauuringute Keskuse seire koordinaator ja aastatel 2005–2015 Eesti Keskkonnauuringute Instituudi direktor-juhtivteadur, aastatel 2007–2014 TÜ Eesti Mereinstituudi vanemteadur (ohtlikud aine).[1]

Teadustöö muuda

Uurimisvaldkond: toksilised kloororgaanilised ühendid Läänemere ökosüsteemis, õhusaastuse probleemid. Lisaks materjalide korrosiooniuuringud.[1]

Riigi Teaduspreemia kandidaat 1997 ja 2000.
