Ameenah Gurib

Bibi Ameenah Firdaus Gurib-Fakim (sündinud 17. oktoobril 1959) on Mauritiuse keemik ja poliitik, kes oli aastatel 2015–2018 Mauritiuse president.

Lapsepõlv ja haridus muuda

Ameenah Gurib sündis 17. oktoobril 1959 Mauritiusel Surinami külas. Ta kasvas üles Plaine Magnienis ning õppis Saint-Patrice'i algkoolis. Hiljem kolis ta Mahébourg Loreto Conventi ja lõpetas seal keskkooli. Seejärel suundus Gurib Inglismaale Surrey ülikooli keemiat õppima. 1987. aastaks oli ta kaitsnud Exeteri ülikoolis orgaanilise keemia erialal doktorikraadi ning naasis Mauritiusele, et Mauritiuse ülikoolis töötama hakata.
