Joey DeMaio töötas pürotehnikuna [[Black Sabbath]]i juures, kus kohtus kitarrist Ross „The"The Boss“Boss" Friedmaniga, kes mängis Shakin Streetis. Hiljem kohtusid nad laulja Eric Adamsi ja trummar Donnie Hamzikiga ning asutasid Manowari, millest sai ebatavalist eepilist muusikat viljelev bänd. [[1984]]. aastal jõudis Manowar [[Guinnessi rekordite raamat]]usse kui maailma kõige valjem bänd. [[1992]]. aastal tuuri „The"The Triumph of Steel“Steel" ajal ületas ansambel ka oma vana tulemuse. Viimased Manowari salvestised on laulud „King"King of Kings“Kings" ja „The"The Ascension“Ascension", mis ilmusid [[2005]]. aastal ansambli viimasel [[DVD]]-l „Hell"Hell on Earth Part IV“IV". Uus singel pidi ilmuma [[27. veebruar|27. veebruaril]] [[2006]] ning sisaldama 10-minutilist lugu „Sons"Sons of Odin“Odin" ja loo „King"King of Kings“Kings" uussalvestist, kuid singlit pole siiani välja antud. Sellest pole olnud juttu isegi mitte bändi ametlikul kodulehel. Ansambli uue albumi salvestamine lükkus edasi kitarrist [[Karl Logan]]i mootorrattaõnnetuse tõttu.
